Our house system outlines the characteristics we aim to instill in every Bobcat before they leave our K-8 school community. These characteristics are also tied to the skills and knowledge we instill through the aerospace and health career technical pathways that make Skybrooke K-8 unique!
“Together, our Bobcats “POUNCE”!
House of Perseverance
House of Optimism
House of Unity
House of Nobility
House of Confidence
House of Efficiency
Every staff member and student will be sorted into a house. House assignments do not change each year. Once a student or staff member is a member of a House, they will remain in this House through the end of their time at SBK8. Each House is symbolized by color and logo. House days, where House members get together to learn and celebrate, will be once a month. Your child is encouraged to wear their house color on house days. You may choose to purchase a House shirt for your child and yourself!
Blaze's BEST Celebrations
Teachers will nominate a student once a month as the student of the month who shows the most qualities of the focus house skill for that month as follows:
September- House of Perseverance
October- House of Optimism
November- House of Unity
December- Student that demonstrated any POUNCE Skill
January- House of Nobility
February- House of Confidence
March- House of Efficiency
April- Student that demonstrated any POUNCE Skill
May- Student that demonstrated POUNCE to Success!
At Skybrooke K-8, our House System helps students build strong character while celebrating what it means to be a Bobcat. Each house trait connects to qualities that bobcats show in nature and qualities we want our students to practice each day at school.
Perseverance means not giving up when something is challenging. Bobcats show perseverance by adapting, staying patient, and continuing forward even when conditions are difficult. Students show perseverance when they keep working toward their goals, try new strategies, and understand that learning takes time and effort.
Optimism means having a positive outlook and believing that success is possible. Bobcats show optimism by bouncing back from setbacks and adjusting their approach when needed. Students show optimism when they see challenges as opportunities to grow, recover from mistakes, and stay motivated in their learning.
Unity means working together and supporting one another. Bobcats show unity through cooperation, communication, and care for their young. Students show unity when they collaborate with classmates, encourage others, solve problems peacefully, and help create a welcoming school community.
Nobility means carrying yourself with respect, courage, and integrity. Bobcats show nobility through dignity, bravery, and determination. Students show nobility when they treat themselves and others with respect, take responsibility for their actions, speak up when needed, and handle success or failure with grace.
Confidence means believing in yourself and your ability to grow. Bobcats show confidence by moving with purpose, using their strengths, and adapting to new surroundings. Students show confidence when they participate in class, share their ideas, take on leadership roles, ask for help when needed, and keep trying even when learning feels difficult.
Efficiency means staying focused and using time, energy, and resources wisely. Bobcats show efficiency by concentrating on their goal and adjusting their strategy to be successful. Students show efficiency when they pay attention to details, use feedback to improve, avoid distractions, and stay committed to their learning.
Together, these traits help our Bobcats grow as learners, leaders, and members of the Skybrooke community.
