Academics

If your child is currently enrolled in an accelerated math course and is scoring proficiently, then he/she will continue that track on the accelerated pathway.

Skybrooke K-8 will have a gifted inclusion model to support our students found eligible Gifted. Gifted endorsed teachers will deliver on and monitor educational goals and your child will be in a classroom with both Gifted and high achieving students. Refer to our infographic here to better understand the different models offered within our surrounding schools.

We will have individual classrooms and each room has their own door. All primary classrooms have their own bathroom.

We will use the same monitoring tools the other Pasco schools use. FAST will be state monitoring. Our curriculum has assessments for the core subject areas (Reading, Math, etc) to monitor, as a county we use Renaissance CBM for monitoring foundations of Reading & Math.

Reading: HMH which is what schools are currently using across the county.

Math: We are currently in the adoption process and the choices go to the school board this coming month so they are not yet approved. Saavas has been proposed.

Science: We are currently in the adoption process and the choices go to the school board this coming month so they are not yet approved. McGraw Hill has been proposed.

Enrollment

Open to K-7 for the 2025-2026 school year. 8th grade students will join us for the 2026-2027 school year.

Check our boundaries page to see if you are zoned for Skybrooke K-8.

The next school choice application window will open April 7-11. More information can be found by visiting our school choice page.

Your child must be 5 years old before September 1, 2025, to register for kindergarten.

Class size numbers are driven by Florida Statute 1003.03 for core-curriculum courses in public school classrooms.

VPK registration is currently closed. There will be another open window date TBD by our district Early Childhood Department. Continue to review our Pasco County Schools website for additional information regarding the Early Childhood department and VPK registration.

Skybrooke K-8 will serve both students that live within our school boundary zone and are accepted through the school choice for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • Kindergarten Round Up is April 9th in the Oakstead ES cafeteria from 5:30-6:30pm and is open for in-coming kindergarten families zoned or accepted to Skybrooke K-8 on school choice for the 25-26 school year. If you applied for Skybrooke K-8 during the April school choice window, you are still welcome to attend and participate in our activities. At this event we will assist Kindergarten families with registration, provide families with kindergarten information and our incoming Kinders will have some time for fun activities, too.
  • Kindergarten Camp will be on July 28th and 29th and the time is TBD. This event is for all incoming kindergarteners that are officially registered at Skybrooke K-8 for the 2025-2026 school year. During this event, our Kinders will spend the day with their teachers, we will have a parent orientation morning, and an opportunity for kindergartners and families to tour our school campus.

Extracurricular and After School Activities

We will have traditional middle school sports offered at SBK8.

Traditional middle school sports are offered to students in 6th-8th grade. We would be open to offering elementary sports opportunities to our younger students if there is a teacher or approved volunteer willing to lead a team. We cannot guarantee field space but are open to discussing these ideas.

We will have a year-round PLACE program, meaning Skybrooke will also be a host site for the summer camp. Incoming Kindergarteners-8th
graders are eligible to attend. Applications to attend go through the PLACE program site.

Instruments available at our school for 25-26: Piano, keyboard, guitar acoustic and string, bassoon, oboe, saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, mellophone, sousaphone, bells, xylophone, vibraphone, marimba, chimes, gong, drums, symbols. Additional instruments may be considered as rental options once school begins, depending on interest and accessibility.

School associated clubs must be led by a school employee. The clubs we have will depend on staff members that are interested in volunteering their time. Once we are in our Skybrooke building, we will gather more input from our staff, students and families.

We will have an elementary and junior national honor society for those who meet the requirements at Skybrooke K-8. Due to the number of different schools students are transferring from, we will begin a brand-new Skybrooke Elementary and Junior Honor Society.

General Information

Bell times for schools are school board approved and will go before the school board at the April meeting. We will communicate via email and on our social media platforms once our school bell times are approved.

Skybrooke K-8 has the capacity to serve 1,850 students. We do not expect our enrollment to reach capacity for this first school year.

We want all students to feel a sense of safety and belonging before the first day of school. All enrolled Skybrooke students and families will have the opportunity to tour our school and meet their teacher in the beginning of August.

The building is on track to be completed in July. We are confident of an August 11 start date for our Bobcats!

School Advisory Council (SAC), Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), and All Pro Dads (APD) are all great ways to get involved. These will be advertised for membership and joining closer to the start of the school year. We are currently looking for someone to lead our APD chapter.

We will announce our hired staff on our Skybrooke K-8 Facebook page, one group at a time. All positions needed for the 2025-2026 school year have not yet been released for hire at this time.

Safety

Our school is equipped with state-of-the-art security measures directed by the state and district guidelines. We will have a School Security Guard on campus at all times. In terms of crosswalks and lights on 54, beyond the school boundaries all decisions and traffic concerns are decisions made by the county.

Student Information

We will continue to celebrate our 5th graders accomplishments and have many of the traditional end of year events and field trips, too. We also look forward to developing our own Skybrooke traditions for our 5th
graders!

We know that this is an exciting leadership opportunity for many students once they reach 5th grade. We plan to keep this tradition by giving students a chance to apply once school starts.

One of the remarkable things about a K-8 school is our opportunities to build a compassionate and collaborative culture across all student ages. We plan to be intentional with our staff t and students to create a culture with the high expectation of showing care and compassion for all students. We will also plan for intentional times when middle school buddy classes will visit elementary buddy classes to share learning experiences. At the same time, we understand that this is a question on the minds of our families. All elementary students will continue to be supervised by a staff member. Elementary classrooms have individual bathrooms (even art and music) for our younger students to use throughout the school day. Lunch and recess times will not overlap. During student passing time, we are currently creating systems on staircases and within hallways that reduce student traffic and the interaction of multiple grade levels at one time. We envision all student ages interacting the most during arrival and dismissal. We plan to have designated zones for different student age groups to enter and dismiss; however, we will allow older siblings to also walk younger siblings to their classrooms for at least the first weeks of school.

School uniforms will not be required at Skybrooke K-8. Our dress code requirements will align with our district Student Code of Conduct.

All Pasco County Schools use a Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS). Our staff will be developing the details of our system in July for us to share with families at the Meet the Teacher/Open House events.

Transportation

Yes. Consistent with all schools, our youngest students will sit in the front of the bus to provide closer supervision by the bus driver.

Please see this map to see if your child is eligible for bus transportation. In late-July, bus availability will appear in your child’s MyStudent portal. VPK students and students on school choice are not provided with bus transportation. We will have a car line and a sidewalk for students to walk or bike to school, too.
